The Learning Bus

On Thursday 3rd May we were very lucky here at Dysart to welcome Janet Fish (Travel Mentor for TFL) and her team with ‘The Learning Bus’.

Having the bus at school for the day gave our pupils the opportunity to learn about safe travel and have the chance to explore the physical layout of the bus at their leisure, with some pupils showing a particular interest in the driver’s cab.

Hosting events such as this enables our pupils, who have not yet had the opportunity to access public transport or who are reluctant to travel in the community, to be given the time and confidence to do so with a level of support that is appropriate to their needs.

We were also lucky to have some of our local Police here who spoke to pupils and allowed them to sit in their Police van and try out their hats!

The day was thoroughly enjoyed by all and we look forward to planning more of these events in the near future.

You are rightly proud of your work around pupil wellbeing, and ensuring pupils are ready for learning.  This has enabled you to establish a calm and purposeful learning environment for pupils with considerable needs.
