School Games Gold Award Mark – 2018/2019

We are delighted to announce that Dysart has been awarded the School Games Gold Award Mark for the second year running.

 

Across the school we have made a continuous and meaningful effort to promote pupils’ physical activity and health through a range of different activities. These have included:

– Creating a detailed day-by-day activity chart showing where pupils are active throughout a typical week. We have used this information to work with staff to identify areas where we can extend opportunities for pupils to be physically active;
– We have taken part in different events / activities with other schools. For example, we have participated in several Panathlan competitions this year, which the pupils have really enjoyed;
– Physical activities that take place off-site. This includes Bikeability, Companion Cycling, Swimming, Horse-riding, plus others. Opportunities like these help us to promote pupils’ independence and travel training skills, as well as helping them to be healthy through increased physical activity;

 

Alba, Dysart’s lead teacher for Sport / P.E. said, “This award shows how well everyone at Dysart has continued to build on the success of last year, providing new opportunities for our pupils to be healthy and physically active – well done everyone”.

You are rightly proud of your work around pupil wellbeing, and ensuring pupils are ready for learning.  This has enabled you to establish a calm and purposeful learning environment for pupils with considerable needs.
