Satellite site given the go ahead
We are pleased to announce that the Department for Education has approved the significant change business case for Dysart School to open an additional satellite site at Latchmere School from September 2025.
The new satellite site will be co-located with Latchmere School, to create additional places for 24 primary aged children. It is adjacent to Apollo 2, one of the school’s existing satellite sites and located about 3 miles from Dysart’s Surbiton site.
The expansion in numbers will enable Dysart School to offer more places to children in Reception and Year 1 and will also enable the school to offer a few additional places in Years 2 & 3. No children who are currently educated at Dysart School will be moved to the new site without consultation with families. Likewise, staff will only move to the new site in consultation with the leadership team, for example if it reduces commute time or offers opportunities for personal development.
Children at the new satellite site will be part of the Dysart Community and there will be opportunities for them to join in whole school events. However, there are excellent facilities at Latchmere School including a swimming pool, so we anticipate less need to transport pupils from Latchmere to the Surbiton site.
Leigh Edser, Principal, said, “It’s great news that the Department for Education has supported the proposal to create Dysart’s third satellite site at Latchmere School and we are excited about the opportunities it brings. We will be able to meet additional demand for specialist places in the local community and are looking forward to our ongoing collaborative working with Latchmere School.”
