School Uniform

Our Approach

At Dysart, we take a flexible and inclusive approach to school uniform.

We do not require pupils to wear a strict uniform. Instead, we have a recommended school uniform which supports consistency and belonging where this is helpful.

We understand that our pupils have neurodivergent profiles and complex learning needs, and that clothing can have a significant impact on comfort, regulation and readiness to learn.

For some pupils, wearing a consistent outfit helps with:

  • Understanding the difference between home and school
  • Creating routine and predictability
  • Feeling part of the school community

For others, flexibility is essential to ensure:

  • Comfort
  • Reduced sensory distress
  • Full access to learning

Following a vote by parents and staff our school uniform colour for pupils is royal blue and items are supplied by online retailer My Clothing.

Optional uniform items include a sweatshirt, polo shirt, t-shirt, cardigan, fleece jacket, micro-fleeced lined jacket, reversible jacket, PE Bag and Ruck sack.

At Dysart, we believe that school clothing should be affordable and accessible for all families.

To support this:

  • Branded items are optional
  • Most clothing can be purchased from any retailer
  • Second-hand items can be available through our school Family support team.
