Olympic Boxer inspires our learners

We were excited to welcome Hannah Beharry, a former British and European Champion boxer, into school to inspire our learners to try a new sport and encourage them to be active.

Everyone, staff and students alike were very excited to meet Hannah and the team from Great British Athletes. All classes had a session with the team which got everyone up and moving doing exercises from star jumps to push ups.

Some of the learners were also able to attend a special session where Hannah spoke to them and told them about her journey. She was one of the first women to box for Great Britain and one of the most prominent female boxers in the UK.

Her achievements include:

  • No. 1 British Female Boxer in the UK for 9 years
  • 2 x European Boxing Champion
  • Ranked no. 3 worldwide

Hannah retired from competing in 2012 and now works as a motivational speaker, athlete mentor and personal trainer. Her motto is “Never give up. Keep going. You will get there”.

This motto resonated with everyone at Dysart and we hope the sessions gave everyone some ideas to keep active over the summer break.
