Malawi theme week party

Dysart have recently formed a partnership with Kafutwe School in Malawi through the charity ‘African Vision Malawi’, a charity which aims to empower the people of Malawi to become self-sufficient and independent.

The aim of this partnership for our pupils at both Dysart and Kafutwe School is to develop an awareness and appreciation for cultural diversity; and for our staff to share knowledge and teaching best practice.  In addition to this, we will be fundraising for Kafutwe School.

This week Dysart had a ‘Malawi theme week’ to raise money for our partnership school.  Teachers taught a range of sessions throughout the week including, African mask making, dance, drumming and cooking.  Throughout the week, pupils also participated in fundraising activities such as a sponsored walk and selling handmade cards.  Our week ended with a big party for staff, pupils and parents.  Everyone enjoyed tasting food and smoothies made by the pupils, listening to African drumming and playing in the mud and ‘waterhole’ area.

We all had a fantastic week, and raised over £350 for our partnership school.

You are rightly proud of your work around pupil wellbeing, and ensuring pupils are ready for learning.  This has enabled you to establish a calm and purposeful learning environment for pupils with considerable needs.
