Dysart Pupil Mental Health and Wellbeing team create relaxation boxes for Lower School

The members of the Pupil MHWB team, were delighted to deliver Relaxation/Calming Boxes to some of the classes in the Lower School on 23rd October.

The relaxation/calming boxes have been developed to provide the pupils, with staff support, a focus when calming/relaxing whilst also providing a chance to improve their communication and emotional regulation skills.

The boxes include a number of different sensory relaxation resources to help to engage the children and support them to calm and self-regulate.  Included within each box is a choosing board so that pupils can ask for their favourite items during a session, encouraging them to communicate and helping them to learn how to request self-regulation in the future.

You are rightly proud of your work around pupil wellbeing, and ensuring pupils are ready for learning.  This has enabled you to establish a calm and purposeful learning environment for pupils with considerable needs.
