Dysart celebrates inspirational Black Voices this October
Each week during the month of October we are focussing on inspirational Black voices and key themes around some of their iconic quotes. We chose to focus on quotes from Nelson Mandela, Maggie Aderin-Pocock, Ade Adepitan and Mary Seacole.
Week 1 -“It Always seems impossible until it is done” – Nelson Mandela
As a school we are taking on challenges that we find difficult to show we can all do amazing things even if they might feel impossible at first.
Week 2 – “Reach for the stars, no matter what your stars are” Dr Maggie Aderin-Pocock MBE
We are working with our pupils to think about what their goals are what they’d like to achieve – to inspire us all to reach for the stars.
Week 3 – “We can all be superheroes, no matter who we are or where we’re from.” Ade Adepitan
We are looking at each of our individual strengths and achievements this week and who our heroes and role models are.
Week 4 – “Unless I am allowed to tell the story of my life in my own way, I cannot tell it at all.” Mary Seacole
We are looking at who we are, our story and our family history this week and celebrating each of our unique differences.
Each class have celebrated black history in their own unique ways, making their own celebratory Art display. This collection of art focusing on Black History and inspiring Black voices will be on display at our Parents Evening in November for all families to view.
