Cooking up a storm

We are very proud of our upper school classes working on their culinary skills this half term. Our 14–19-year-old students have the opportunity to prepare, cook and serve meals across the week for each other.

Each class takes a turn to make a meal. Neptune class have been enjoying preparing tasty jacket potatoes with beans, cheese or tuna. They have especially enjoyed making chocolate cookies and fruit salad for pudding.

This weekly activity gives our students the ability to develop independence skills has also supports other areas of their learning, improving communication, maths and reading skills. The students have also had the opportunity to develop their teamwork and learning how they can help each other. For Neptune class this has been a brand-new experience as they have transitioned into upper school this year and we are all very proud of how the students have gotten involved. We are looking forward to seeing what our post 14 students cook up next!
