Dysart School Awarded the ‘Wellbeing Award for Schools’

The Change team is incredibly happy to announce that Dysart School has been awarded the ‘Wellbeing Award for Schools’ (WAS).

In March 2019 we began working towards achieving the Wellbeing Award for Schools (WAS).  Jo announced to the whole school and parents about the award and created the ‘Change Team’ consisting of parents and staff representing our whole school community with a common interest and passion…. Mental Health and Wellbeing!

The Change team was so popular, we divided into 3 ‘hubs’ who will continue to support mental health and wellbeing at Dysart, Parent hub, Pupil hub and Staff hub.

On Thursday 9th July, Jo and Nick met virtually with an external verifier to present evidence demonstrating that the school had met the objectives and KPI’s required for the award.  The verifier was really impressed with the outstanding contribution the Change Team has made to wellbeing across the whole school community…..

“the school does as much as possible to meet student, staff and parents needs in order for everyone to feel like they can      develop and thrive here.  It appears that every eventuality is covered and the provision to meet needs is outstanding….
…..I am delighted to recommend that Dysart School receives the Wellbeing Award for Schools. Many congratulations on the highly impressive work that you have put in place for staff, families and students! The Change team has made an outstanding contribution to the wellbeing of everyone in your school and deserves recognition for its significant, genuine and meaningful efforts”.  (WAS verifier)

Jo, who led the Change team said “we are absolutely thrilled to have achieved the Wellbeing Award for Schools and are so proud of our whole school community for working together to contribute to the wellbeing of everyone.  The Wellbeing Award for Schools has given us the opportunity to reflect and review mental health and wellbeing at Dysart as well as provide us with a framework for implementing new ways of working that supports wellbeing across the school.

Thank you to the AMAZING Change Team ~ the Parent, Staff and Pupil hubs for their passion, dedication and support.

We have been on a journey towards creating a mentally wealthy school BUT our journey continues beyond achieving this award!”

You are rightly proud of your work around pupil wellbeing, and ensuring pupils are ready for learning.  This has enabled you to establish a calm and purposeful learning environment for pupils with considerable needs.
